un long et intéressant article sur le fameux journal américain "Vanity fair", pour lequel Annie Leibovitz travaille régulièrement, et a réalisé quelques unes de ces plus mythiques photographies.

"Vanity fair" a été mon magazine préféré pendant une bonne partie des années 85-95. Je le lis un peu moins maintenant, mais je devrais peut-être revoir ça ...

L'article du Monde 2, bien documenté sur les coulisses de ce luxueux ovni du journalisme américain, est très intéressant. Je le partage donc avec vous. Les images sont clickables pour lire le texte.

Dimanche, je rentrais sur Paris.
Définitivement.
La saison écourtée, j'empruntais le TGV en direction de la capitale, laissant derrière moi un été fort sympathique.

Dès lundi, la rentrée fut rude.
Rude ?
Premier mauvais point : je me trompais d'horaire et arrivais quinze minutes en retard. Très pro. Mais peu grave.
Second mauvais point. Ou plutôt intéressant ce point.
Alors que je courais dans les couloirs du métro pour essayer de rettraper le temps perdu (et vous pourrez me croire sur parole, ce foutu temps n'a jamais voulu céder ! Niet ! Quinze minutes de retard au départ = quinze minutes de retard à l'arrivée. Testé et approuvé par moi).
Bref. Alors que je courais dans le métro, l'alerte fut donnée par une jeune femme me précédant.
Un cri. Puis un mouvement de recul ; un regard vers l'assistance proche (moi) ; un détour ; puis un éclat de rire un peu plus loin.
Alors oui. Je te le révèle. Lundi après-midi, vers 17h, dans les couloirs menant à la ligne 1 en direction de Vincennes, dans les escaliers de la station Reuilly-Diderot, je t'ai vue faire pipi dans les escaliers.
Et je peux t'assurer que chaque jour je découvre des facettes de la vie métropolitaine.
Oh comme j'ai compatis. Oh comme je t'ai comprise.
Oh comme j'ai été heurtée par cette image qui me hante encore.
...

Puis la vie continue.
Pour reprendre mes bonnes habitudes, je décidais donc aujourd'hui de me rendre à la MEP.
Quasi lieu de pèlerinage.
J'avais dû me résoudre à le déserter, risquant de rater ces magnifiques expositions vues aujourd'hui.
Le risque fut mince.
L'attente douce.

Jolies découvertes. Rencontres amicales et émouvantes.
D'emblée, nous découvrions l'Oeuvre Clairvaux d'Eric Aupol (que l'on peut voir depuis la rue dans la Vitrine).
Oeuvres crépusculaires. Jeux de lumières. Austérité et embrasement.

Sophie Elbaz ensuite. L'exposition L'envers de soi présente des morceaux choisis de l'oeuvre du photoreporter.
Séries d'une très grande diversité (autant sur la forme que le fond).
Portraits, paysages, vies contées au travers de la vision d'une femme en quête de vérité (tant personnelle qu'universelle) [Oui, parfois je dis des choses tellement basiques que ça me fait presque peur. Mais il est tard voyez-vous.]

Le Dressage d'Yves Klein m'ayant laissée d'un marbre glacial et indifférent, je tombais rapidement dans l'univers pénétrant d'Annie Leibovitz.
Un panel entremêlé de photographies diverses et variées.
Une exposition très réussie.
Pêle-mêle, les clichés de s'enchaînent. Tantôt tendres ; tantôt froids ; ici choquants ; ailleurs amusants.
Une polysémie égrainée tout au long d'une muséographie fleuve, où le fil d'une vie de photographe apparaît, entre amour des siens, des autres, entre personnel et formel.
Un discours sans discordances, dans une totale fluidité, au rythme de la vie et de ses aléas.

Je pensais à ça devant cette expo de quelques clichés d'Annie Leibovitz, à la Maison Européenne de la Photographie. Sans doute touché parce que sa compagne est morte d'un cancer, un truc horrible qui a dégénéré en leucémie. Une greffe de moelle qui échoua, en épilogue.

Nous l'avons enterrée à Paris, et à mon retour à New York, j'ai pris des photos de son appartement sous la neige depuis les fenêtres du mien, à London Terrace. J'étais tellement habituée à voir une lumière à sa fenêtre.
Quelques semaines plus tard, j'ai photographié la mort de son père. Il avait choisi de mourir d'une autre manière. Il n'est pas allé à l'hôpital. Il est décédé chez lui, dans son sommeil, tôt le matin, dans les bras de ma mère.

Je vois ce vélo, posé à terre, comme jeté. C'est un vélo. Quand on lit le petit panneau à côté, on apprend que c'est le vélo de l'enfant qui vient de se prendre un tir d'obus, que l'enfant a été secouru par la photographe, qui l'a vu mourir dans le taxi. On ne meurt qu'une fois, et c'est le cliché d'une vie.

Une jeune femme, chevelure blonde, à côté, dit simplement à son amie :

En fait, c'est ça qui m'attire, quand je vois des photos... Je me dis, elle parle vachement, cette photo.

Partout, des mots de Annie, sur sa compagne, sur la fuite lente de son corps. Des clichés sont là, tristes témoins. Mélancoliques. Eux n'ont pas besoin de petits panneaux explicatifs.

Je suis très dubitatif quant à la capacité de la photographie d'attraper le réel. Sinon la mort, quoi d'autre un morceau de pellicule pourrait-il fixer ?

Wie das immer so ist, haben einflussreiche Lobbyisten über nahe Abgeordnete einige gefährliche Änderungseinträge eingebracht, die vor allem die Freiheit und Offenheit des Internets gefährden (Netzneutralität) und gefährliche Ideen wie Internetsperrungen und mehr Überwachung des Internets über die Hintertür einbauen.

Bei der vorläufigen Diskussion fand sich kein Konsens unter den Fraktionen. Die endgültige Abstimmung über das Paket findet im September statt (Quelle).

Ich habe fleissig Mails an die österreichischen EU Abgeordneten geschickt. Hier mal die Antworten

(...) Wir möchten klarstellen, dass die Netzneutralität keinesfalls in Frage gestellt wird. Der Kompromissänderungsantrag Nr. 5 sagt klar, dass es "keine Restriktionen oder Verzerrungen beim Netzzugang oder bei der Leistung von Netzdiensten geben darf" - im englischen Original: "ensuring that there is no distortion or restriction of competition in the electronic communications sector, in particular for the delivery of and access to entoent and services across all networks" (...)

(...) Hinsichtlich der inhaltlichen Verantwortlichkeit der ISP´s spricht der abgestimmte Bericht nur von "promotion of lawful content", das heißt die ISP´s werden nicht für den Inhalt ihrer Kunden zur Verantwortung gezogen. Zur Verständlichkeit der englische Originaltext: "applying the principle that end-users should be able to access and distribute any lawful content and use any lawful applications and/or services of their choice and for this purpose contributing to the promotion of lawful content in accordance with Article 33 of Directive 2002/22/EC (Universal Service Directive)." Grundsätzlich eine positive Antwort, wobei ich die Gefahr sehe dass der Hinweis auf "lawfull content and applications" wieder zu einer generellen Überwachung des Datenverkehrs führen kann. Wie könnte sollst festgestellt werden ob der User sich "lawful" verhält.

Leider finden sich in einigen Kompromiss-Anträgen noch Formulierungen wie "lawful content", ein völlig unbestimmter Begriff, der als Trojaner für Zwecke  der Filterung von Content im Internet dienen könnte. Das muss den Leuten, die im Herbst darüber abstimmen werden, noch klar gemacht werden. Sobald man nämlich einen Inhalt beurteilen will, ob er "lawful" ist, muss man hineinschauen -- und das heißt: Überwachung von Inhalten, die jemand sendet oder herunterlädt.

Jedenfalls führen Generalverdacht gegen jeden User und Daten-screening ohne konkreten Verdacht direkt in de Überwachungsstaat. Wichtige Qualitäten des Internets sind aber Freiheit und der Schutz der Privacy. Wenn das gefährdet wird, gefährden wir zugleich den Erfolg des Internet, vor allem aber die bürgerlichen Freiheiten!

Eine für mich sehr positive Antwort. Die Grünen vertreten da eine sehr gute Position wie ich finde.

(...) Ich bin der Meinung, dass Urheberrechte und Jugendschutz im Internet natürlich wichtige Anliegen sind. Aber wenn die Internetserviceanbieter gesetzlich für die Inhalte des Internets und das Verhalten der Nutzer verantwortlich gemacht werden, werden sie gezwungen alles ständig zu überwachen. Das ist der falsche Ansatz. (...)

Das klingt ja auch nicht schlecht.

Habe den MEP auch geanwortet, meine Meinung zu deren Antworten gegeben und sie auch auf die drohende Internetüberwachung in Österreich gewarnt.
Bin gespannt ob sie dazu etwas zu sagen haben.

Ingesamt eine positive Erfahrung, habe Antwort von allen bekommen (Hans Peter Martin und FPÖ/BZÖ Abgeordnete habe ich nicht gemailt).
Ein wenig Zweifel habe ich jedoch, ob hinter den beruhigenden Worten auch viel Überzeugung steht und ob nicht auch in Kompromissen wie "lawful content" die Überwachung droht.

I've got a lot of time for Tim. He's done as much as anybody to help shape the scape of the UK (political) blogosphere from his base in Portugal. He knows his economics and all parties could learn a lot from his writings, he's very hot on civil liberties, and from the small amounts of contact I've had with him, and from his writings, I reckon he'd make an excellent MEP, MP, councillor, or whatever type of political representative he decided to stand for under whatever political banner.

However, there's also a lot I disagree with UKIP on in general which I've not got time to go into, and normally I'd never even pause to consider their name in the voting booth. This time I'd certainly pause over Tim's name even if I don't think he'd vote for him. But those with politics slightly more in alignment with his should certainly consider him, assuming he's selected.

I can't ever imagine voting for UKIP, but I wouldn't be upset if Tim got elected. If that makes sense.

“It was a great honour to meet the President in person, but I had hoped that Madame Sarkozy – Carla Bruni – might also have been there. I had a special something for her which instead I gave to one of the officials, who promised to ensure that it would be immediately and safely delivered. I am faced with one of those moments that have the opportunity to define me and seriously impact those around me.  The choice will seem obvious once you know the details.  I have been divorced for a while now well over a year.  Most articles I read tell you that the first year is the hardest for being divorced.  The first year you have to spend time and redefine who and what you are.  You can no longer be defined as a couple, no longer make those couple decisions.  Of course, there is the emotional baggage that goes with it as well.  That’s why most of us in the know (those of us that are divorced and have been for while) stay away from the recently divorced. 

Getting involved with the recently divorce (less than 1 year) is like being invited to a train wreck.  There you stand on the precipice examining the mile long wreck with the recently divorced waving to you from somewhere in the wreck.  The problem with being invited in to the newly divorced is you get the complete tour of the wreck.  There is a need when you are first divorced to spew forth the litany of half-truths, broken promises or explain in detail that emotional wasteland they find themselves in.  I know, I have been there.  You don’t even realize you are doing it but you are.  The issue for those of us in the know (by us, I mean those individuals savvy about the divorce process), we know it takes time and energy to move on.  Being involved with you means we end up as your emotional crutch and we are only a stopping point.

Now as cruel as that sounds, the newly divorce either want to retreat from life or sample all the little delectable’s that went by - that you had to ignore when you were married.  I just don’t want to be a way station as you move on with your life.  Yes, you could argue you want something more but you would be lying and probably don’t even know it because you need time to figure out who you are.  You can’t make any type of commitment until you clean up the train wreckage and even then there will probably still be a few cars left that will follow you around for a while.      

Enough with the soapbox and back to the problem sitting with me.  As I mentioned in past blogs, my ex-wife is an abuser.  She uses such tools as intimidation and manipulation to get her own way.  Oh, and she has a terrible temper, yelling and screaming and jumping up and down.  You could say, that I am making this up and god I wish it were so but I am not.  Interesting if you ever confronted her, she would be the sweetest kindest person you ever met.  She has an incredible ability to hide that part of herself when people are looking.

After reading the book “Why people do bad things?”, I think I have maybe a better handle on what’s going on with her.  I don’t believe she has multiple personalities because this would show up in much more severe ways.  No, what I believe is that she isn’t a whole individual.  There is a darker shadow in all of us we keep carefully locked away.  If you never examine this side of yourself (and some of us never do or are afraid of the outcome) this side can popup all by itself.  This helps to explain why some normally decent people do horrible things (such as steal money).  The weaker the outside persona the more likely this dark side will pop up.  So my ex-wife for years growing up, played housemaid to her parents, as the eldest, she was responsible for changing diapers, making dinner and the like.  Basically she didn’t have a childhood and her personality was suppressed.  I am not a professional so this is my best guess.  This is in alignment with when I was married to her, some of our smallest arguments turned into huge fights with her.   Over time, I realized I was getting the brunt of years of pent up rage from within her.  Try telling her that. 

So, when we were in court, she swore in court, she needed all this money from me to stay at home and take care of the children.  I called her a liar as when I lived with her, I did all the cooking and shared the household duties and she worked at her job all the time – sometimes 80 hours a week.  Well, the court system being what it is, the judge didn’t believe me.  So in the past several months, I have seen my own children warning they wanted to commit suicide instead of the life they have with her.   Why the children would want to commit suicide is a mystery to my ex-wife but is quite clear to me.  She is doing what was done to her.  My ex-wife completely suppresses the children.  There is little to no love in that house.  No opinion except those in alignment with her own are allowed.  Screaming and ranting from my ex-wife is the way she runs that house.  Oh please, tell me I am making this up and just saying this because I hate my ex-wife.  I would love to be wrong, so totally wrong, but I am not, the signs are all there.  Now after the children have threatened suicide what does my ex do but leave town for week long trips for her pitiful job. 

This is beyond my experience and capability.  My ex is a master of manipulating the moments.  She can paint such pictures with words you cannot NOT believe her.  That is the part of her that scares me the most.  When I go to report this to the authorities she will believe I am doing this to get her but nothing can be further from the truth.  But this one place, on this blog, I can express my feelings about this without worry about retribution.   I do this for my children and damn the consequences – bring it bitch, let’s have at it, I am fighting for them, not you or me anymore....

Following Cameron's not-so-green speech that I blogged about a few days ago, here is a press release from Dr. Caroline Lucas MEP, Green MEP for South-East England and parliamentary candidate for Brighton Pavilion, about how Cameron's rhetoric does not match Tory action yet again:

Green Euro-MP urges caution on Tory Green credentials after Euro-Parliament vote on electricity market

Responding to today's vote on the internal electricity market in Strasbourg, Green MEP for the South East Dr Caroline Lucas said:

"It really is quite extraordinary that in the very same week that David Cameron gave his so-called "green" speech, in which he pledged to implement an Emissions Performance Standard for all new power generation, his own MEPs in Strasbourg refused to support a proposal to do exactly that.

"In a vote today on the Directive on the internal market in electricity, Tory MEPs either abstained, or voted against, a Green Group amendment which would have prohibited new generating capacity with CO2 emissions in excess of 350 grams per kilowatt hour produced.

"Such an emissions ceiling would have ensured a major boost to energy efficiency, and avoided any return to dirty coal in the EU. It is technology-neutral and gives the investor the opportunity to finance whatever is deemed reliable and effective to comply with the target. This may be renewable energy or efficient gas-fired power stations with combined heat and power. This may also be CCS for coal or investment into energy savings and smart metering before any new power station is built at all."

She concluded: "That neither Labour nor Conservative MEPs supported our amendment is demonstrates that their green rhetoric is little more than hot air. If you want Green policies, the only effective way to achieve them is to get Green Politicians. "

Comme promis, j'ai ressorti de mon précieux classeur d'inspiration les photos d'Annie Laibovitz pour Vogue US. Je les partage avec vous dans ce billet ...

Bonjour à toutes et à tous.

Pour donner suite à mon propos d’hier, le 21 juin approche et la photographie prend ses quartiers d'été à Paris, avec quatre nouvelles expositions qui ont démarré hier à la MEP, et en particulier celle consacrée à Annie Leibovitz qui ouvre le bal des expos de photo de mode de la saison (juste avant celle sur Richard Avedon qui va débuter le 2 juillet prochain au Jeu de Paume, et celle sur Lee Miller qui suivra toujours au Jeu de Paume à partir du 14 octobre suivant).

Etant donné que c’est de loin la plus importante en densité, je vous propose de commencer par celle-là. Annie Leibovitz, je ne vous la présente pas (et en cas de besoin je vous renvoie ici et ici, où vous trouverez tout ce qu’il faut …).

Figure majeure de la photographie américaine depuis les années 60, son parcours est jalonné d'images mythiques d’abord pour le magazine Rolling Stones (John Lennon et Yoko, la tournée "Sticky fingers" des Stones en 75, …).

De 1983 à 1998, elle travaille pour Vanity Fair, et depuis pour l’édition américaine de Vogue, développant ce style si particulier à la fois sobre et très glamour. Parallèlement, elle poursuit un travail personnel qui a donné lieu à de nombreux ouvrages, en particulier « Women » co-signé avec Susan Sontag. Et elle fait des photos dans la vie de tous les jours, ce serait dommage de se priver …

Cette exposition retrace, en 300 photographies, ses vingt dernières années de travail autour de cette phrase de l’artiste : « Je n’ai pas deux vies distinctes. J’ai une vie, et les photos, personnelles en font partie au même titre que les œuvres de commande ».

A travers un mélange de clichés intimes et des plus belles images qu’elle ait produites pour les magazines, c’est donc la cohérence et la continuité d’un regard et d’un talent qui s’expriment à chaque instant de la vie qu’il nous est donné de voir. Et c’est fascinant !

Présentée antérieurement au Brooklyn museum (voir ici), l’exposition est sponsorisée par American express, entreprise pour laquelle Annie Leibovitz a photographié de nombreuses campagnes de publicité.

Elle s'accompagne de la parution en français du catalogue aux éditions de la Martinière.

Que vous dire si ce n'est que cette exposition est un must absolu …

Seconde exposition que j'ai trouvée particulièrement inspirante, celle de Sophie Elbaz.

Après un beau et riche parcours de photo journalisme, le travail de Sophie Elbaz a peu à peu évolué dans une direction plus personnelle dans les sujets et plus expérimentale dans les techniques.

Avec des mots clés comme « acceptation du changement », « résonance » et « voyage intérieur », ce cheminement est l’occasion de voir des images de toutes ses grandes séries : son travail sur la guerre des Balkans, sa recherche à Cuba avec les artistes de Garcia Lorca, l’opéra de La Havane, et « Aleyo » sur le Sacré, le Corps et le Politique à Cuba dont est extraite la photographie suivante.

En parallèle de l’exposition de la MEP, vous pouvez aussi retrouver cette série "Aleyo" de Sophie Elbaz du 6 juin au 12 juillet à la galerie Seine 51 dont le site est ici.

La troisième exposition est l'occasion de retrouver les talents de William Klein, génial touche-à-tout des arts visuels en général et de la photographie en particulier, dans un contexte très spécifique : celui d'un reportage sur un concours de dressage équestre.

Si l'exposition n'est pour le moins guère représentative de l'étendue du talent du maître, elle donne toutefois largement matière à voir et à penser avec un travail incroyable sur les cadrages, les couleurs, les rendus. Du grand art sans aucun doute.

Pour finir, j'ai retrouvé avec plaisir les travaux d'Eric Aupol à la centrale de Clairvaux que j'avais déjà eu l'occasion de voir à la galerie Polaris il y a deux ans.

There was cross-party support in Scotland to keep our 7 MEPs and they hoped that such a lobby would keep its MEP numbers intact. Alas, Westminster has decided to cut Scotland's numbers further down to 6 MEPs.

New numbers for MEPs sample selection (low numbered nations):-
3 Northern Ireland
4 Wales
5 Malta
6 Luxembourg
6 Cyprus
6 Estonia
6 Scotland
7 Slovenia
9 Latvia
12 Ireland
13 Finland
14 Denmark

As you can see both Malta and Luxembourg by dint of their independence have 5 and 6 MEPs respectively.

Both have a population less than Edinburgh. They have more influence in Europe than Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. They are Members of the Council of Europe, attend European summits, and each have the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on a rotating basis with all of the other members.

Ireland has a population about 1 million less than Scotland with twice as many MEPs.

Denmark has a population around Scotland's size with 14 MEPs.

And this Labour Westminster Government wants to cut our representation?!

Scotland will now have lost 25 % of its representation in the last ten years.

Incidentally, Germany over the same time period and with new nations joining Europe has the exact same number of MEPs; 99. Luxembourg who will have exactly the same number of MEPs as Scotland with under a tenth of the population of Scotland are also unchanged.

Northern Ireland has a fixed ratio of three MEPs as the EU class that as a region. Regions can't go below 3 MEPs.

If Northern Ireland was independent that number, with a population comparable to Slovenia, would rise to 7.

Wales, like Scotland and Northern Ireland, is considered a region and hence both can't have less than 3 MEPs. Wales has lost none of its representation over the same period.

If the Welsh are feeling happy about this, I'll just remind them that Wallonia, a region of Belgium, with roughly the same population, has 9 MEPs. And Latvia, an independent country with around 2 million people, has that many MEPs. Wales would have 11 MEPs if independent on that basis.

England will have 60 MEPs, but if independent that number would rise to about 70.

Scotland will now have the same number of MEPs as Yorkshire.

With its large geographical area - although you wouldn't know it if you looked at a BBC weathermap - its own Parliament and legal systems that implement EU legislation; you may have thought Scotland had a great case for retaining its already meagre influence.

Not according to Bridget Prentice, the UK Electoral Affairs minister and Labour MP for Lewisham East.

She told Struan Stevenson, a Conservative MEP, just one of the cross-party support of Scotland's case: "I acknowledge the issue of distance that Scottish MEPs face and would suggest taking steps to mitigate the time burden of travelling across the Scottish electorate, such as allocating travel responsibilities among the Scottish MEPs or more frequent use of video-conferencing."

So she proposing dividing up Scotland between the MEPs? Our Scottish MEPs are elected for the whole of Scotland; that's their constituency! How can she face her fellow Scottish Labour MEPs and MSPs, similarly campaigning for Scotland's euro voice?

No wonder Mr Stevenson had this to say on her ideas: "Bridget Prentice has a fairly scant understanding of the Scottish dimension - surprisingly for a woman who is herself Scottish - but she's been closeted too long in the cushy southern shires of England and forgotten the geography of Scotland. Her trite ideas, like video-conferencing and sharing travel, are ludicrous to the point of being risible."

Surely its time for Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland to have their own voices in Europe.

Scotland having its own voice would stop the situation where our fishing industry and Scottish ministers and MEPs are ignored by the UK Government.

A UK Government that has just cut Scotland's voice in Europe to a whisper.

Its time to tell Westminster where to go!

“Your email makes no sense and neither do you.”  Was her response back to me when I tried to explain my priority was to pay maintenance enforcement.  And really when I thought about it why would she care?  Her standard of living was excellent.  In ensuring my children received their support – she automatically upped hers.  She makes $40,000 a year in a city where the cost of living is much high.  Combined with what I pay her, she tops above $100,000 – why would she care?  I could be eating beans out of a can warmed over a city grate for all she knew. 

What I found interesting about this situation is the change in her character.  This was not the person I originally married.  She always claimed to be a highly religious and very devout in her faith.  A caring and compassionate person to all her friends and colleagues.  What happened was I left her because I was tired of all the verbal and emotional abuse.  In the end, as she has reminded me many times this was my decision.  The hidden undertone of that statement is you made the decision and now you pay the price.

I can only chalk this up to be that I really didn’t know her – which for me was and is scary.  I had spent a lot of time understanding her and thought I knew her.  This part of her is vindictive and brutal almost like a complete alter-ego.  When I went to therapy, the therapist explained to me that this wasn’t uncommon for this behaviour to exhibit itself.   Which lead me to question – my ability to truly understand another person.  Was there always another ego waiting in the dark recesses of someone to surprise me later? 

This led me to do some research on this topic and I found a book (well many books on the topic).  Not that everything can be explained by science but I needed a starting point.  The book hypothesizes that all of us have other ego’s buried in our sub-conscious.  The author suppositions that these other ego’s show up at different times in our life.  Take for example the accountant working for a charity for 10 years and steals $300,000.00 from the charity.  The author explains that this is the other ego surfacing. 

Those of us who spend time examining the darker side of ourselves gain a better understanding of what motivates us.  Most individuals ignore the darker side well, because, it is the darker side in all of us.  Examining that side would bring up pain and hurt and we already have enough of that without pursuing it.   This darker side typically shows up when we are under extreme stress or we have to make a significant choice that challenges our ethics.  For instance, if you were struggling to eat, found a wallet with a $1000.00 in it.  You decided that if the person could shove a thousand in their wallet then they had plenty of money and wouldn’t miss this amount.  You use the money to buy food.  This is called situational ethics and it’s not likely you would share this story with your friends because it would show a darker side to yourself you would rather stay hidden.  However, the moralized payoff is that you now have a food on the table and nobody was hurt.  So let’s take this example further.

During the divorce, governments and the court have decided the greatest interest shall be in the children thereby as the father your income or the ability to support yourself doesn’t matter.  The soon-to-be ex-wife is given the tools and power to strip you of everything you have.  This is a powerful motivator to appeal to the darker side of her and very few have the ability to resist it especially if she is told this is her right and she needs to pursue this.   What rises up in the court is something I hadn’t seen in her before – a ruthless and vindictive individual capable of anything.  This caught me off guard as I only wanted a 50/50 split.  What I came to realize was I would lose.

It really didn’t matter what she had done to me.  Short of killing me the courts don’t take actions such as emotional abuse into consideration.  The fact she had trapped me many times in rooms and held my hostage doesn’t matter.  That analytically side of me finds the process fascinating that this could occur while my emotional side was damaged by all this.

So in the end, I should have followed my therapist’s advice on this matter.  Don’t respond to her.  Explaining where you are coming from won’t matter.  My therapist was correct on this matter.

Je vous avais annoncé le débrief complet des nouvelles expos de la MEP dont le vernissage a eu lieu hier, et malheureusement ... il va falloir attendre encore un peu que j'ai le temps de finir le billet.

Mais pour vous faire patienter, deux clichés pris hier soir lors de cette inauguration par moi en personne (Soéla est témoin !).

En premier, Annie Leibovitz, en chair et en os, que j'ai vu, là, en face de moi, un peu comme je vous vois, mais en mieux quand même ...

Quelle émotion ! Une des plus grandes photographes vivantes. J'en étais toute chose, et plus encore quand j'ai pris mon courage à deux mains pour aller vers elle lui dire à quel point j'admire son travail, et même ça, c'est loin de la vérité. Et dire qu'elle m'a remercié ... J'en suis renversée !

Et comme deux bonne surprise valent mieux qu'une seule, quelques minutes plus tard, c'est William Klein himself que j'ai eu en face de moi.

Il était en train de poser pour des photographes, donc j'ai saisi ma chance d'immortaliser moi aussi cet instant.

As we are brought up to believe we live in a free and democratic society.   In a democracy there is a suppose to be a series of check and balances ensuring liberty, the rule of law and a balanced approach for all citizens.  This in turn ensures protection of the rights and freedoms of individuals.

Our rights in Canada are as follows:

·        Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada.

·        Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.

·        Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

·        Everyone has the right not to be subjected to any cruel and unusual treatment or punishment.

·        Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.

As you will find, being a divorced dad, these rights are amended significantly.  As follows:

·        Maintenance Enforcement, provincial governments and the federal government will seize your passport denying you right to leave Canada.

·        Your right to pursue life and liberty is also significantly reduced.  Your right to life disappears as a series of other rules come up with MEP.  These rights are the rights of other individuals superseding your own rights.   There is no commitment or guarantee or subsequent rules supporting you as an individual.  What I mean is, MEP will take everything away from you, leaving you with no means of income or support.  There is also no means of defending yourself has your means of defense like any democracy is based on your ability to hire a good lawyer.  This isn’t possible when MEP has claimed or frozen your accounts.  Further to the comments, there is no criminal charge, thereby denying your ability to fight this in criminal court.  Both provincial and federal have carefully constructed these additional rules avoiding rights that were supposed under the charter. 

·        When your basic rights have been infringed there is a section of the charter that applies, as follows:

o       Anyone whose rights or freedoms, as guaranteed by this Charter, have been infringed or denied may apply to a court of competent jurisdiction to obtain such remedy as the court considers appropriate and just in the circumstances.

However taking on a legal battle of this nature would require funds in the hundred’s of thousands to challenge precedence established by the government.  But these types of battles have been waged in history before however it takes monumental strength of character to pursue this avenue.  I believe that both provincial and federal governments are better on the following:

1.    You are too dumb to realize what has really happened.  A lot of the rules impose by MEP really require a criminal charge to truly be enforced.

2.    That you, like me lack the will to pursue and object.

3.    That the careful rationalization that anything we say as divorced dads against the system will be seen as a negative point of view and popular public opinion is against us.

Fundamentally, we are talking about a struggle of our basic rights as citizens of Canada versus popular public opinion quick to label us as deadbeats. 

·        To further support the government efforts, they will seize your property.   When is the last time the government seized property?  Well, you are put in the same class as a criminal because the government seizes properties, assets and money from criminally related activity.  Interesting.  Although we as divorced dads haven’t been charged anything,  we are treated like criminals however we have even less rights than criminals.   No wonder dads kills themselves and jump off of buildings.

·        Cruel and unusual treatment of the individual would be considered to restrict or remove rights of a group of individuals.  History has many examples of this occurring.  Individuals are identified as groups then systematically stripped of their identity.  What could be more damaging in Canada then to freeze your accounts and assets.  Have you tried going to the food bank?  It’s ironic because the food bank won’t give you food because you make too much money – you are denied the basic rights to life. 

All of the above actions are carefully hidden from public view and who would believe you anyway?  Any compliant on your part as a divorced dad would label you quickly as a deadbeat.  The rights of you as an individual are gone in this system.  It’s interesting that nobody is really complaining because this leaves the government to perform greater actions around this.  This is a warning, if the government could do this in this area – what’s to stop them from pursuing you?

Take for example, my parents.  Lets say they are reach their 60's and they need a little help.  Disregarding past injustices you or I would like to help them out.  Say they are living at the edge of poverty and every moment they could be on the street.  You could say it's their own fault.  They should have saved.  They should have managed their money better, but then you remember.

The one thing my parents consistently did was to help out my siblings.  Call it a fault in their character if you want to.  My parents consistently gave money to my brothers and my sister when they needed it.  Well at least they tried to help them and that is one redeeming quality.

Whats interesting, well whats fucked up now is the way the system works.  Even if I tried to help my parents I would be penalized by the system.  The only priority being the payment of MEP or as you know (well if you read past blogs) will take away everything.  So if my mom doesn't have enough money to give my father a proper burial who gives a fuck?  Not the government says I.

O espectro político nacional vai ser renovado com 2 novos partidos, o MEP (Movimento Esperança Portugal) e o MMS (Movimento Mérito e Sociedade). O MEP, que pretende concorrer já às eleições europeias e legislativas de 2009, pretende “sacudir o pessimismo e a desistência”. Dizem-se ao “centro” e têm “uma disponibilidade permanente para dialogar com todas as forças políticas, numa lógica de construção”. O MMS defende “uma visão de futuro para a expansão e sustentação económica de Portugal, assente nos principais activos que dispomos – o espírito de conquista e desembaraço dos portugueses e a maior zona económica marítima da Europa”. Este jovem partido procura dirigentes regionais que adiram e divulguem o movimento. Se ambiciona ser político, tem aqui a sua oportunidade. Quanto a nós, reclamamos um mundo novo.

But equally ask yourself this while watching the clip: when commentators say that ‘pro-Europeans’ must somehow present their case better, how can anyone be motivated to do so when MEPs behave this way?

Jens-Peter Bonde, az Európa Parlament egyik dániai képviselőjének honlapján publikált beszámoló az EU Alkotmány átírásáról a „Lisszaboni Szerződés” név alatt, és a szerződés készítését és alírását övező európai politikai konspirációról

Hogy elkerüljék a szerződés szakértői, különösképpen a kritikus szakértők általi olvasatát, a Tanács titkárságának köztisztviselői azt a megbízást kapták, hogy tegyék olyan bonyolulttá a szöveg érthetőségét, amennyire lehetséges.

Törvény szerint a Lisszaboni Szerződés egy alkotmány, ami a tagállamok alkotmányai felett áll, de egy megtévesztő formában, hogy mindenki számára úgy tűnjék, mintha nem alkotmány lenne. A szövegben az Unió zászlaja, himnusza és az egyéb uniós szimbólumok nem állnak a maguk látható helyén, de továbbra is használatban lesznek, mint ahogy már használatban voltak az aláírási ceremónia alatt is.
Strasbourgban az Európai Parlament részéről három elnök ünnepélyesen aláírta a közös alkotmányi jogokat – és kötelességeket – magába foglaló Alapvető Jogok Európai Uniós Alapokmányát. Bár e jogokat és kötelességeket magából a Lisszaboni Szerződésből kivették, de törvény szerint kötelező érvényűvé tették.
Tehát csupán a külső burkolat változott meg, ugyanakkor minden cikkely ugyanolyan kötelező érvénnyel megmaradt, mint ahogyan a leszavazott EU Alkotmányban szerepelt. Az alkotmányozó konvent elnökeként, a volt francia elnök Giscard d`Estaing, 2007 október 27-én egy nyílt levelet küldött a főbb európai sajtóképviseleteknek, amelyben így nyilatkozott: „A Lisszaboni Szerződés ugyanaz, mint a leszavazott EU Alkotmány. Csupán annak formáját változtatták meg, annak érdekében, hogy a népszavazások elkerülhetők legyenek.”
Ez a lisszaboni kitérő volt az ára annak, hogy az alkotmány megkaphassa új nevét: Lisszaboni Szerződés.
Mindez tehát Merkel és kollégái műve volt. Megoldották, hogy az EU Alkotmányban foglalt minden törvényi kötelezettséget átmentsenek új prezentációs keretek közé. A szerződést így meg lehetett kötni Lisszabonban, azon a gyönyörű napsütéses napon, 2007 decemberén.

„Született a nap és a bűn jegyében”

27 demokratikus ország 27 demokratikusan megválasztott miniszterelnöke találkozott december 13-án délelőtt 11.30-kor Lisszabonban, hogy ünnepélyesen aláírják azt a szerződést, ami számukra egy új típusú kooeprációt épít majd. Ragyogó napsütés fogadta őket. Kellemes, nem túl forró, nem túl hideg hőmérsékleten, akár egy szép dániai nyári napon. Az emberek az éttermek teraszán ülve ittak egy csésze kévét vagy egy pohár portóit.

Csodálatos nap volt. A 27 miniszterelnök és a 27 külügyminiszter és küldöttsége fekete és ezüstszürke limuzinokban érkezett, majd bevonult a gyönyörű, 15. századbeli fehér kolostorba, amelynek oldalán álló templomban nyugszik örök békében Vasco de Gama, a híres portugál felfedező.

A miniszterelnökök köré láthatatlan masinák lengették a zászlókat, miközben elhelyezkedtek az aláírási ceremóniára. A francia elnök foglalt helyet utolsóként, ezután Socrates, Portugália demokratikusan megválasztott szocialista miniszterelnöke belekezdett beszédébe. Követte őt az Európai Bizottság elnöke, José Manuel Barroso, majd az Európai Parlament elnöke, Hans-Gert Pöttering.

És akkor egyenként, alfabetikus sorrendben szólították az országvezetőket. Elsőként Belgium került sorra: annak megbízott miniszterelnöke, Guy Verhofstadt és külügyminisztere, Karel de Gucht. A jelenlévők mind aláírásukkál látták el a két túlméretezett szerződés-könyvet, amelynek végleges tartalmát soha nem olvasták. A tartalomról csupán néhány köztisztviselő által értesülhettek, akik azt minden részletében és vonatkozásában ismerik. De ismétlem, közülük egy, azaz egyetlen egy sem olvasta el azt a szöveget, amit aláírt abban a gyönyörű palotateremben egy decemberi csütörtökön, a találkozó első napján. A találkozót másnap Brüsszelben folytatták.

E két helyszínre osztott talákozó révén sikerült demonstrálniuk az európaiak számára – mintegy a közelgő klímakonferencia előzeteseként – miként lehetséges rövid időn belül extra 200 tonnányi széndioxidot kibocsátani. Ez a lisszaboni kitérő volt az ára annak, hogy az alkotmány megkaphassa új nevét: Lisszaboni Szerződés.

Hogy miért vagyok oly biztos abban, hogy egyikük sem olvasta az általuk aláírt szerződést? Erre könnyen válaszolhatok: a szerződés szövege egyszerűen olvashatatlan. A szerződés 294 oldalnyi szövege nem más, mint 17 jelenlegi alapszerződés módosítása. Ezek a módosítások csak akkor olvashatóak és érthetőek, ha e módosítások mindegyikét beillesztik a vonatkozó szerződések megfelelő helyére. Csak ezután látható mely szövegrészlet és miként változott. Csak azután kezdhet el bárki is annak vonatkozásain gondolkodni. A teljes szöveg olvasása heteket is igénybe vehet, még szakértők számára is.

Hogy elkerüljék a szerződés szakértői, különösképpen a kritikus szakértők általi olvasatát, a Tanács titkárságának köztisztviselői azt a megbízást kapták, hogy tegyék olyan bonyolulttá a szöveg érthetőségét, amennyire lehetséges.
Erre a célra három új számozási rendszert vezettek be. Először is az elutasított EU Alkotmány vázlatának számrendszerét annak októberi változatában egy újjal cserélték fel, amit októberben Lisszbonban elfogadtak, de még nem írtak alá. Azután egy új számozási rendszert vezettek be és megtagadták átadni a régi és új kódok közti megfeleltetési táblázatot.
Végül az összes cikkelyre egy teljességében új kódrendszert vezettek be. Ezeket csak akkor lehetséges összevetni az eredeti EU Alkotmánnyal, ha valaki egy saját megfeleltetési táblázatot készít ezekhez a kódokhoz. Segítséget senki nem kap semmilyen hivatalos szervtől. A kormányok közti konferencia úgy határozott, hogy egyetlen intézmény sem publikálhatja a konszolidált verziót, mielőtt mind a 27 tagállam véglegesen ratifikálta a szerződést.

A parancs így szólt tehát: ne olvasd, ne érts semmit belőle, csak írd alá.

A francia elnök egy miniszerződést ígért választói számára, ezért a Tanács titkárságát arra utasították, hogy a módosításokat szűkített sorközökkel publikálják. Ennek eredményeként, bár a Lisszaboni Szerződés 8,500-al több szót tartalmaz, mint az elutasításra került EU Alkotmány, mégis 62 oldallal rövidebb annál.

A demokratikusan megválasztott kormányok mindegyike egy közös nagy problémával küszködött: a választóiakkal. Az európaiak 75%-a népszavazást akart az új szerződésről. Tíz tagállam elfogadta ezt az elképzelést. Ám a francia választók 55%-a visszautasította az alkotmányt, amit a francia nemzeti parlament tagjainak 90%-a támogatott. Még rosszabb a helyzet Hollandiában, ahol a holland választók 62%-a ellenezte kormánya és képviselők 80%-a által támogatott szöveget.

A német kancellárasszonynak azonban támadt egy ötlete. Egy titkos levélben megkérdezte kollégáit, mi lenne, ha ugyanazokat a jogi kikötéseket egy új formában tálalnák és erre hivatkozva a népszavazásokat visszavonnák? Mivel titkos levele sajnálatosan kiszivárgott, ezután a titkosságot sokkal ügyesebb szervezéssel biztosították az elkövetkező tárgyalásokra.

A tagállamok kösztisztviselői ezután teljes titokban találkoztak és készítették el az új szöveget. Az Európai Parlamenttől 3 képviselő vett részt az egyeztető tárgyalásokon. A köztisztviselők Merkel asszony lojális szolgáiként viselkedve megtagadták a tárgyalási dokumentumok ismertetését a kritikusabb kollégáikkal, a nyilvánossággal, és kiváltképpen engedetlen választóikkal.

Az Európai Parlament választott képviselői is részt vettek tehát a miniszterelnönökök által indított bujkáló és képmutató hadgyakorlatban az átírt szöveg elfogadtatására.
Mindannyian tisztában voltak azzal, hogy a szerződés elfogadtatása lehetetlen annak olvasása, megértése és a polgárok szavazására bocsátása nélkül. Ahelyett, hogy egy olyan szöveg alapjait helyezték volna le, amelyet a polgárok örömmel fogadnának és megszavaznának, titokban megegyeztek arról, hogy minden tervezett referendumot eltörölnek, egyetlen kivétellel: Írországban, ahol az alkotmány túlságosan egyértelmű és a bíróságok túlságosan függetlenek ahhoz, hogy megengedjék az alkotmány megszegését.

Dánia ügyét, amely egy másik olyan ország, ahol rendesen a választók döntése szükséges az új szerződésekhez, már könnyebben lerendezték. 2006 december 21-én, a német kancellárasszony meglátogatta Dánia miniszterelnökét annak megvitatására, miként lehetne a szerződést a dán választók ellenében beiktatni, mivel a dánoknál ugyanarra a fegyelmezetlen választói viselkedésre számítottak, mint amit a franciáknál és hollandoknál tapasztaltak.
A dán külügyi titkárság készített egy jogi bejegyzést arról, hogy miként lehetséges áthidalni a nehézségeket azon a kilenc területen, amelyeken az Igazságügyi Minisztérium problémákat talált a dán alkotmány korlátai miatt. Tehát már volt egy tervük, amit a dán miniszterelnök a nyilvánosság előtt letagadott.

Amennyiben mindez kiderült volna a dániai választások előtt, a dán miniszterelnököt soha nem választották volna újra, ezért egyszerűen annyit mondott választóinak, hogy még sor kerülhet majd a népszavazásra. Titkos találkozókat tartott a pártvezetőkkel, akik a választások előtt a választók elnyeréséért e hazugságban segédkeztek.
A választások után a fő pártok visszavonták a dániai népszavazást, miként arról korábban, titokban már megegyeztek.

Dánia egyszerűen kiszáll a belügyi és igazságügyi kérdésekben való kooperációból.
Így a pártvezetők elmondhatják választóiknak, hogy Dánia nyílt terület lesz majd a terroristák számára, amennyiben a választók nem szavazzák meg ugyanazon törvények életbe lépését, amelyeket egyébként is alkalmazniuk kell a 26 többi állam döntéseinek fénymásolata alapján. További problémákat kerültek el azáltal, hogy megkérték az Igazságügyi Minisztériumot, hogy azt állítsa: nem biztos, hogy a különböző jogi paragrafusok azok rendeltetései szerint kerülnek majd használatra. Így Dánia kivárhat addig, amíg később kiderül, hogy felmerülnek-e problémák, miután már minden egyéb ország ratifikálta a szerződést.
Elérték hát, hogy ezáltal a választók megkérdezésének dániai betegsége nem terjedhetett át a többi országra.
Kiváltképpen az Egyesült Királyságért felelős Gordon Brown remélhette ezután, hogy sikerül elkerülnie a népszavazást a legelszántabb ellenkezést mutató brit választókkal.

December 14-én a miniszterelnökök Brüsszelben a Justus Lipsius épületben gyűltek össze. A dán miniszterelnök uralta a terepet és bejelentette, hogy sikerült kikerülnie a népszavazást Dániában. Néhányan spontán tapssal köszöntötték bejelentését.

A 27 demokratikus ország demokratikusan megválasztott miniszterelnökei ezután lenyugodhattak a karácsonyi ünnepekre, anélkül, hogy nehezen kezelhető választóik miatt fájna fejük. Megoldották: aláírták azt a végső szerződést, amelyre a francia és a holland nép nem-mel voksolt, anélkül, hogy egyetlen valódi engedményt adtak volna cserébe választóiknak.
Csupán annyit tettek, hogy megváltoztatták a csomagolást.
Az alkotmány szót és az uniós törvények irányadó elvét levették a főoldalról és elrejtették a 27. nyilatkozatban, amelynek számát később 17.-re változtattak. Törvény szerint a Lisszaboni Szerződés egy alkotmány, ami a tagállamok alkotmányai felett áll, de egy megtévesztő formában, hogy mindenki számára úgy tűnjék, mintha nem alkotmány lenne. A szövegben az Unió zászlaja, himnusza és az egyéb uniós szimbólumok nem állnak a maguk látható helyén, de továbbra is használatban lesznek, mint ahogy már használatban is voltak az aláírási ceremónia alatt is.

Strasbourgban az Európai Parlament részéről három elnök ünnepélyesen aláírta a közös alkotmányi jogokat – és kötelességeket – magába foglaló Alapvető Jogok Európai Uniós Alapokmányát. Bár e jogokat és kötelességeket magából a Lisszaboni Szerződésből kivették, de törvény szerint kötelező érvényűvé tették. Tehát csupán a külső burkolat változott meg, ugyanakkor minden cikkely ugyanolyan kötelező érvénnyel megmaradt, mint ahogyan a leszavazott EU Alkotmányban szerepelt.
Tulajdonképpen ez a nyilatkozat már most is hatályban lévő törvény, mivel a Bíróság már alkalmazta azt, annak ellenére, hogy a francia és a holland szavazók korábban leszavazták.
Felajánlottam egy üveg jó bort annak, aki fel tud mutatni csak egyetlen olyan törvényt, amely az EU Alkotmány szerint alkalmazható, ugyanakkor a Lisszaboni Szerződés által nem. Az üveg bor még mindig itt van nálam, mivel ezidáig senki nem tudott egyetlen egy ilyen példát sem felhozni.

Az alkotmányozó konvent elnökeként, a volt francia elnök Giscard d`Estaing, 2007 október 27-én egy nyílt levelet küldött a főbb európai sajtóképviseleteknek, beleértve a dániai „Politiken”-et is, amelyben így nyilatkozott: „A Lisszaboni Szerződés ugyanaz, mint a leszavazott EU Alkotmány. Csupán annak formáját változtatták meg, annak érdekében, hogy a népszavazások elkerülhetők legyenek.”

Mindez tehát Merkel és kollégái műve volt. Megoldották, hogy az EU Alkotmányban foglalt minden törvényi kötelezettséget átmentsenek új prezentációs keretek közé. A szerződést így meg lehetett kötni Lisszabonban, azon a gyönyörű napsütéses napon, 2007 decemberén.

Egy új állam született akkor, a nap és a bűn jegyében.
